Our Wedding

We really and truly got married in 2008. Very hard to fathom it has been over three years!

About the Service

We decided to honor Jewish tradition and held our wedding on a Sunday. It was a bit easier to book the venue and all the other wonderful people we need to hire to create our special day.

At the end of the ceremony a glass is placed on the floor, then it is shattered with the foot. This act serves as an expression of sadness at the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem, and identifies the couple with the spiritual and national destiny of the Jewish people. Others explain that this is the last time the groom gets to put his foot down!

But we believe the breaking of the glass will symbolize how fragile the relationship between a husband and wife can be. The broken glass will act as a reminder to treat each other with kindness and gentleness.

It is traditional to say "Mazel Tov" to someone anytime they have good news. We heard this from friends and family once we announced our engagement. At a wedding it is customary to shout this out at the end of ceramony. And of course, you do get to say "Mazel Tov" as often as you like. Mazel means "good" and Tov means "luck".

Who

We are very silly people who do pretty much everything over the top. We love to cook, play with computers, dance, travel, and figure out why people are so odd.

Where

The wedding and reception was at Cypress Meadows in Moss Beach, CA. If youa re in the area you can stop by their and visit the flower shop. Lots of fun things to look at.

When

We tied the knot on August 17 2008.

Other Information

For those of you not familiar with the Coastside it can be foggy, cool, or the most clear and beatiful day ever. There is just no way to ever know and it can change throughout the day. We suggest you bring a light jacket, wrap, shawl, or parka as your wardrobe permits.

Food

We planned to serve what is called "heavy appetizers". But since we are Jewish, it turned out to be a full lunch with lots of wonderful food. We loved preparing the food and would it again.

We had fresh picked strawberries, an assortment of cheeses including a wonderful triple Brie, bagels and other assorted breads including sour dough, green salad, veggies, a scrumptious warm Spinach / Artichoke dip, and our famous fresh grilled drunk chicken chopped up with dried fruit, roasted grilled peppers marinated in balsamic vinegar, homemade humus, and mexican wedding cookies.

Since we love desserts, it was important that the Wedding Cake tasted awesome. Ok we decided on three cakes just to make sure we had lots of variety. And for those of you wondering, we did indeed make Chocolate Cake, Carrot Cake, and the Vanilla cake with custard and raspberry filling.

Drinks

Red wine, white wine, a dessert wine, coffee, tea, soda, sparkling water and of course Champagne.

We found a Moscato wine from Sutter Home that was added to the list. It is a lovely dessert wine that should go well with the cake or fresh strawberries.

Dancing

And of course we need music so everyone can dance. Anyone for a square dance? We are having our square dance caller at the wedding, so get up and dance with us. He will be leading a dance for everyone so there is no excuse.

How about a nice Tango? Or maybe a Cha-Cha? And there will be blues type music so we can show off our West Coast Swing moves.
